Pastor Dryden may have been the one who started it all with a conversation with Karen Bruner, wife of Sgt. Bruner, but it was the work of the other co-founders who made Operation DVD begin with a dream and end in a reality.

Jan and Mickey Rooney
Jan and Mickey Rooney are an enigma In Hollywood. Not only have they been married for over 25 years, they share a Star on The Hollywood Walk of Fame® together (for live entertainment) near Mickey’s three other Stars for film and television. Jan is an accomplished writer, singer, actress and TV and radio co-host. Mickey has appeared in over 200 films and received an Academy Award for Lifetime Achievement, a special Juvenile Oscar he shared with Deana Durbin in 1939, five Oscar nominations, one Emmy Award, five Emmy Nominations, two Golden Globes and a Tony nomination.

But all of their accomplishments pale in comparison to their love and support for our troops. Jan and Mickey continue to enthusiastically work with the USO.

As a regular GI, during WWII, Mickey entertained frontline troops with the “Jeep Shows” (which consisted of three men in a jeep who delivered much needed entertainment to the troops in foxholes at the front). For his services in the war, he was awarded the Bronze Star with clusters.

Both Jan and Mickey are determined to keep the Tradition of Entertaining our Troops alive.
